Panama City Man Tries To Buy $23,000 Car With A Worthless Check
The Bay County Sheriff’s Office announced today the arrest of Ivan Lydell Redmond, DOB 6/27/64, of 1123 Ethlyn Road, Parker.
Redmond, out on bond from previous charges related to fraud, was taken into custody by BCSO Warrants deputies on an outstanding warrant for Failure to Register as a Felon. An additional charge of Grand Theft was added this afternoon.
On January 2, 2021, Redmond entered a local car dealership and put a $2500 deposit on a vehicle using a check card. The dealership allowed him to take the vehicle home. On January 5, 2012, Redmond returned and gave the dealership a check for $23,259.00 to pay for the vehicle. It was determined that both the check card and the check were worthless. The check was written on a closed account in a bank in Gulf County.
A warrant was issued for Redmond and he was taken into custody without incident.
